The light at the end of the tunel

Fri Nov 27, 2009, 3:01 PM
Hey, guys. Sorry for the silence as of late, but grad school is a harsh mistress who won't let me draw very often. However, I'm a week and a half away from completing the semester, and I've even got a painting in the works, so stay tuned! :D

1 - Go to "wikipedia." Hit “random... Read More” or click [link] The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the

Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. You may need to do a screen grab and crop down to the image.

5 - Post it to FB (or dA in this case) with

Happy Turkey Day!

Sweet Jesus, grad school really is different, isn't it? Small, discussion-based classes, everyone there WANTS to be there, and best of all... NO EXAMS!

However, I decided to be a dork and take 6 classes per semester. So long, free time!
I haven't had any time to draw, except for a few doodles here and there, and not very good ones at all.
Please be patient with me, folks; there'll be new art come December break, don't you worry!

In other news...

Remember the poster I did for the HAJET Hokkaido Players' theatre production of "Alice in Japan"? -->

Well, the Players are at it again, and this time they'll be performing the British pantomime version of Aladdin. I've been asked to do the poster art again (aww, golly gee). :D

I wish them success! And all you dA people who live in Japan, I highly recommend you go see them in May 2010!

Macross Frontier: Finished!

Tue Sep 8, 2009, 6:48 PM
I watched all of Macross Frontier in two days' time, all in a last-minute attempt to aimlessly geek out prior to school starting tomorrow. (Egads!)

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it; I thought it was a great continuation of the Macross universe's storyline, as well as a distillation of a lot of the stuff which made the previous installments so enjoyable. I found all of the characters to be well-rounded, three-dimensional, and easy to understand intention-wise. And the music was High Octane FTW. :D

There were a few things I didn't really take to, though, one of which was Ranka Lee. I like Nakajima Megumi's singing and speaking voice; It's great to hear an anime heroine who actual sounds like a normal 16-year-old kid and not some squeaky little loli. However, I could tell that the producers hired Megumi for her singing, and not her acting. As a result, some of the nuances that would otherwise have made some of Ranka's scenes emotionally affecting are missing.

Sheryl Nome, on the other hand, was a well-rounded, deeply interesting character with loads of acting oomph, kudos of Endou Aya. At first glance, Sheryl seemed like your typical annoying blonde ojou, but became a sympathetic, strong heroine.

On a separate note, Sheryl x Alto FOREVER! Sheryl, take Klan's advice and elope with Alto before Ranka works her whiny charm on him again!

Now, anyone out there have any suggestions for another series for me to watch all in one go? :)

I give up with the journal, already!

Yay for simplicity. AGAIN. God, I need to make up my mind about this stuff. :P

So the big scary hurricane wasn't as bad as most people thought, although some poor folks down in New England were swept out to sea. Sad, but then again, people really shouldn't go out sight-seeing on the rocks when there's STORM SURGES to worry about. There were so many people out doing exactly that at Peggy's Cove when Bill hit. Why not just cordon off the sightseeing area there, seriously? People are just going to ignore the (monolingual) sign anyway.
