I finally found a usable USB cable! Took me long enough, too
Anyway, this is another fanfart piece of East Asian cinema, the film this time being Ying Xiong, known to English speakers as Hero. This was the movie that introduced me to Zhang Yimou's style of filmmaking, and whatignited my growing interest in Wuxia/HK films. I'd never seen such color and emotion used in such a way before I saw it.
I loved the relationship between Broken Sword (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) and Flying Snow (Maggie Cheung). Why is it that Tony and Maggie always seem to make the best onscreen couple? *sigh* The little figure standing on the cliff behind them is Moon (Zhang Ziyi), by the way.
Pencil, watercolor, color pencil (for the border).
This is gorgeous, like all the rest of your work. WOW, I must say. I love the rainbow effect on their robes, how it makes them seem like one person. And of course the way you do hair is just...amazing.
Hey, maybe one inspired the other, who are to tell?
Yeah, a number of folks accused Zhang Yimou for making the film as propaganda for the "return" of Taiwan to Chinese jurisdiction. He denies it, and I'd like to think that the ending is up to the viewer to decide. It's better that way anyway, right?
I used a kind of dabbing technique with my brush, and waited just a little while after doing a "stripe" before going onto the next. That way, the colors mix a little, but not too much.
