I finally found a usable USB cable! Took me long enough, too
Anyway, this is another fanfart piece of East Asian cinema, the film this time being Ying Xiong, known to English speakers as Hero. This was the movie that introduced me to Zhang Yimou's style of filmmaking, and whatignited my growing interest in Wuxia/HK films. I'd never seen such color and emotion used in such a way before I saw it.
I loved the relationship between Broken Sword (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) and Flying Snow (Maggie Cheung). Why is it that Tony and Maggie always seem to make the best onscreen couple? *sigh* The little figure standing on the cliff behind them is Moon (Zhang Ziyi), by the way.
Pencil, watercolor, color pencil (for the border).
Wow, this is gorgeous, Carrie-ko. I don't know what I love more, Flying Snow's hair (It's so beautiful and flowing!) or the colours on their clothes. @__@ It's all so very lovely. And Hero is a beautiful movie, too.

¡La señora duerme! ¡Oh, que pueda su dormir que permanece, ser tan profundo que el cielo la tenga bajo su sagrada protección! Este aposento se preparó para otra más santa, esta cama para otra más melancólica.
That movie really confused me... but it was still great! It's such a shame that everyone had to die. 'Cept Moon. Poor Moon, she was left all alone at the end...
But the fighting was so awesome. The fight between Broken Sword and the King (Err, wait... Emperor? I need to watch it again) reminded me so much of fighting Ganondrof at the end of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (if you haven't played it, the important thing to know is that the final battle is a climactic sword fight between a massive guy in black billowing robes, and the hero. And it seems very inspired by this sort of thing.) I loved Broken Sword's sword, too, the way it was broken made it look like a meat cleaver.
I hear it was criticised for being all about patrioticism, or something (the ending basicly being "China is great as one country.") But from where I was sitting it was just a great film.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
