Full view, please. :)

Seventh in my "Women of Japanese Horror" series.

Now, before you get all up in arms about her not being from any manga or movie, I just wanna let you know that the Yuki-onna ("Snow Woman") is a true symbol of fear and the supernatural. Long before there was Sadako or Kayako or any of those movie-girls, the mere mention of the woman in the snow sent jolts of fear down people's spines. People really were afraid of seeing her back then, and I don't doubt that there's still people living in Japan today who believe in her. You don't doubt the classic tales. ;)

I had trouble with the wood and corrugated steel roof of the BG, but altogether I really liked the results. I opted for a less decadent-looking obi for the lady's kimono, just because I'm a lazy git who can't bother to learn how to draw fancy kimono. I'd probably be better off drawing a Korean hanbok.

Watercolor, gel pen, paint pen, and Photoshop (for lighting).

mm. I love classics. I like this myth. her hands are so creepy. I really like the wind. The solid black in her hair is crazy. But I really love those patterns you overlaid - your trademark. Faaaabric. O_O

Paranoia is a very comforting state of mind. If you think they're out to get you, it means you think you matter.

Isn't it supposed to be 'Shirahime'? Not just from the CLAMP book, but also I had to look up japanese myths for class one and thats the name that came up for the snow maiden in most of the ones I found.
GREAT art, and how at first glance it looks like she's merely embracing the man, but when you look closer you see he's bloody and almost as pale as the snow around him - either dead already or dying.

Most books and people I've seen and talked to refer to her as "Yuki-Onna", but I think "Shirahime" is either another name for her or another being entirely. I'll need to look it up.

Thanks! :) I appreciate it!

Woah, nifty! Her take on the Snow Lady's quite lovely. I love how she used the snowflake patterns. I just dab at the paper with white paint. ^^;
